Digital Media: My Story

Digital media refers to any media created and shared electronically, such as websites, social media platforms, and digital advertising. In recent years, digital media has become an increasingly important part of our daily lives as more and more people turn to the internet for news, entertainment, and communication.

My digital media involvement began at Temasek Polytechnic when I first dabbled with Adobe Photoshop for my classes. I was amazed by the software's limitless potential and ability! Combined with the accessibility of the internet, I soon found myself joining an online art community called DeviantArt, where I could post content, interact with other users, and learn new tips and tricks to improve my skills.

Inspired by the excellent photographs on the DeviantArt platform, I began spending my limited student funds on renting DSLR cameras to improve my photography skills. In the same period, I began consuming Japanese animation as it became popular in Singapore. It became my newfound passion, and I participated in animation film festivals such as Animation Nation to learn more about these shows.

These new skill sets have been essential for my personal growth as I could adapt and learn quickly, where my knowledge in IT grew in tandem with my design skills. Through these skills, I had the opportunity to work in education and healthcare in IT support roles.

My passion has brought me to the current path of studying at Curtin Singapore's Bachelor of Communications, specialising in Web Media and Marketing. My passion has also allowed me the opportunity to work at Apple, the largest technology company in the world.

Overall, digital media has revolutionised how we consume and create content, and I have been positively impacted by it. I want to create more digital content and return to the education field to positively impact young people by becoming a digital communications specialist and being up-to-date on the latest developments in this rapidly-evolving field.
